Sacramento Kings Mid-Week Recap: All’s Quiet In Sactown

facebooktwitterreddit

I figure that there’s a lot of Sacramento Kings fans out there that miss some stories and cool Kings things throughout the week, so I’ve gathered a few of them here for you to check out to help get through the tough first stretch of the week.

More from Kings News

In the future I’ll try to do one of these once every Tuesday to help everybody keep up with what’s going on in Sacramento basketball news. I may be late or forget sometimes. Such is life. There will be some ARP pieces here (because come on, I’ve got to rep my own site) but also a lot of stuff from Twitter and other great Kings sites, and some national stuff.

Anyway, enough introduction. Let’s check up on what’s happened (hint: not much) since our last Mid-Week Recap.

The Sacramento Kings’ officially unveiled the return of the baby blue Kings jerseys! I love it. I love most jerseys the Kings are going to wear besides their usual ones, which I don’t like so much.

But still, bringing back the classic look from the start of the Kings’ time in Sacramento is an awesome idea, and Kings fans at each Friday home game as well as the last regular season game played in Sleep Train Arena will get to see DeMarcus Cousins and company rocking baby blue uniforms, which is a nice way to send off Sleep Train and help get ready for the Golden 1 Center.

The Sacramento Kings put out a surprisingly fun/funny slideshow titled “27 Signs You’re a Diehard Kings Fan”  on Thursday. If you haven’t yet done through it and checked your true fandom, I would definitely recommend doing so immediately.

Whoever made the long piece wasn’t afraid to poke fun at the Kings a little bit, and that helped make this more than your average home team propaganda piece. My personal favorite is probably the sixth sign–“You’re glad the NBA is cracking down on flopping, but you’re still honored to call Vlade Divac the best to ever do it.” Classic.

There’s a few other gems in there, but I don’t want to ruin all the best ones so be sure to check out all the signs yourself. It’s time well wasted.

Rajon Rondo was a popular topic this week, and ended up being covered in a series of articles. On Saturday Greg Wissinger over at Sactown Royalty dropped an article explaining why overpaying Rondo makes sense for the Kings. It’s good, and I agree with most everything Greg had to say.

Then on Monday, ESPN dropped an article I don’t really agree with at all, calling Rondo the worst newcomer of the offseason. I ever so humbly disagreed with that call and substituted a few newcomers I see as a lot worse than Rondo in a piece of my own, just a few hours after the ESPN piece surfaced.

So despite being called out by ESPN, at least us local sites showed some love to Rajon Rondo. Hopefully he can silence most of his haters with some great play on the court for Sacramento this season.

Apr 4, 2015; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Kentucky Wildcats forward Willie Cauley-Stein (15) runs onto the court for the 2015 NCAA Men

We’ve got some Willie Cauley-Stein workout footage to look at (this is how dry August gets for NBA news. Can training camp please start, like now?). Willie Trill put in some time working on his jump shot, and he seems to be on point from mid-range right now.

There are a few more shooting displays on Cauley-Stein’s instagram, which you should really be following at this point if you’re a Sacramento Kings fan on instagram. There’s a lot of fun stuff on there, like this picture of a baby wearing a sombrero:

Finally, while we’re on a Willie Cauley-Stein kick, our newest A Royal Pain staff writer Spencer Ault (who you should definitely follow on Twitter) just wrote a piece detailing why WCS should start at power forward for the Kings next season.

I may be slightly biased, but I think it’s a good read that makes a strong case to play Willie more alongside Boogie this season. His reasoning was more profound, but really how can you not want to start a frontcourt known as Willie Trill and Boogie? I don’t think you can possibly not want that. It’s too groovy to pass up!
