As the new season approaches, the Kings have some serious guard issues to address.

They have lost Marco Belleneli and might be seeing the last of Seth CurryDarren Collison and Rajon Rondo in a Kings uniform as well.

David Stockton, the son of the famous point guard John Stockton, would be a perfect piece to bring back.

He played for the Gonzaga Bulldogs from 2010-2014 and has been a member of the Kings’ Development League team Reno Bighorn since 2014.

Throughout his tenure at Gonzaga (138 games), he averaged 4.8 points and 4.2 assists per game. During his time with the Bighorns (88 games), the 5’11” point guard averaged 19 points and 8.3 assists per game.

He was signed by the Kings last year, but with the surplus on the roster, he was let go. Below is a clip of him with the Kings at the end of the 2015 season, playing against the Lakers.

In the three total games that Stockton spent with the Kings, he averaged 2.7 points and 3 assists per game.

From the above clip, we can clearly see he is NBA ready and a great playmaker. Former Kings head coach George Karl referred to David as a “feisty player” (per Sacramento Bee). That is definitely the kind of energy the Kings could use moving forward.
