Should The Sacramento Kings Re-sign Eric Moreland?
By Rafe Wong
The Sacramento Kings will have to make some big decisions ahead as they have 6 players on their current roster that will be free agents this offseason.
These six players consist of Rajon Rondo, James Anderson, Eric Moreland, Caron Butler, Seth Curry, and Quincy Acy.
In this piece, we will focus on the faith of power forward Eric Moreland.
So far Moreland’s tenure with the Kings has not been ideal. After having an impression Summer League campaign back in 2014, Moreland has been a victim to countless injuries during his brief NBA career.

Because of this, it has forced the former Oregon State Beaver to spent most of his professional basketball tenure rehabbing or bouncing back and forth from Sacramento’s bench to the Kings D-League team Reno Bighorns.
Eric Moreland’s sample size in the pros has been microscopic. Through his two seasons with the Kings organization, he has only made 11 appearances on the court while averaging just 4.5 minutes per game. He also has averaged 0.9 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.4 blocks per game during that span.
As a rookie, the expectations of Moreland were that he could hopefully one day become a rim-protector that can fit perfectly with Kings star big man DeMarcus Cousins, but again the injuries have severely held the young man’s progress back.
This offseason Eric Moreland is officially a restricted free agent. So the question is, should the Sacramento Kings try to re-sign Moreland back to wearing purple and white next season?

For me, I think the Moreland project should be over and that the Kings should pursue other options in finding a reserve big man going forward. Moreland showed potential in the very beginning, but his health is a liability in my opinion, and it is hard to make an impact for your team when you are not available to play.
