Kevin McHale was a top-tier name on the list of coaching candidates for the Sacramento Kings, but it looks like the Boston Celtic great will not lead the Kings after all.
It was reported today by ESPN’s Marc Stein that McHale has withdrawn himself from the race for the Kings head coaching job next season (per ESPN).

With McHale now out of the picture, this will disappoint many fans in the Kings community. He seemed to be a favorite among the grocery list of candidates that the Sacramento franchise was interviewing according to social media. Here are some reactions that stood out.

I love Kevin McHale. If he's not interested, the Kings can't hire him. If he's not all in, he's out.

I've decided. I want either Kevin McHale, Nate McMillan, or Jeff Hornacek as the next Kings coach. Which means they'll hire Byron Scott.

Kevin McHale to the Kings would be an excellent idea. If this were to occur, I would hope management gives him a fair shake.

McHale would need a solid assistant staff to help him, but I think he’s a good personality to lead that Kings team.
