If you are tired of reading articles praising Sacramento Kings point guard Darren Collison you might want to leave this page. But really who can be tired of it if you are a Kings fan?

Yes, Darren Collison throughout his two seasons with the Kings has exceeded expectations that Kings fan originally had for him.

Before coming to Sacramento, many thought of Collison as a good point guard to have but never great. But in my opinion, he has changed that perspective.

Throughout the 119 games (60 started) that Collison has worn a Sacramento uniform, Collison has averaged 14.8 points and 4.8 assists per game. He has also shot 48% from the field overall, 38.9% from the three-point line, and 82.7% from the charity stripe (per Basketball Reference).

Through all the drama and havoc that has happened throughout these last two seasons for the Kings, Collison remains to be a bright spot in the mess. There is a good debate that he has been one of the more efficient and consistent players that the Kings have had in these last two seasons.

Not only have the numbers been good for Collison, but also considering how much the Kings are paying him throughout his contract may even be better.

Right now Collison’s contract is a duration of three years which consist of a total value of a little over $15,000,000. That means he is earning an average of a bit over $5,000,000 annually.

According to Spotrac, that is ranked the 35th most expensive contract compared to other point guards in the league. Players like D’Angelo Russell, Rodney Stuckey, and Jose Calderon are getting paid more than the former UCLA Bruin which in my opinion is mindboggling.

Overall, it’s safe to say that the Kings are getting a royal bargain having Darren Collison on their team with the contract that he currently has.

He has one more season left before his contract expires, so hopefully he can showcase one more solid season before the Kings resign him. I mean, the Kings should try to resign him right?
