It has been sweep city for the Sacramento Kings (26-41) in the last couple of days, only this time around, the purple and white were at the rotten end of it.

After finally breaking their past five-game losing streak two days ago, the Kings ended up getting blown out of their homecourt to the New Orleans Pelicans (25-42) to a score of 123-108.

Notable performances by the Kings last night were by DeMarcus Cousins who recorded 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists, Darren Collison who scored 23 points, and James Anderson who scored 17 points.

Notable performances by the Pelicans last night were by Anthony Davis who scored 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, Ryan Anderson who tallied 29 points off the bench, and Jrue Holiday who scored 17 points.

Again, what held the Kings back from winning this game was their incompetent defense. The Kings are currently ranked last in the league in average points allowed per game, and with the Pelicans scoring 123 points last evening it added even more pain to the wound.

The Kings were competitive to start the game, but once the second quarter clocked in the Pelicans, lead by Ryan Anderson, had a field day on Sacramento outscoring them 41-22 in quarter #2. After that, the Kings just were not able to make much progress in decimating the Pelicans lead, as a result giving them the loss.

Sacramento has had no problems scoring the basketball this season, and normally scoring 108 points which they did last night would give a normal team the victory. But it has been that bad for the Kings on the defensive end. Just ask Kings All-Pro defender Doug Christie. He’s knows a little something about defense.

So for the thousandth time, once the Kings can play even mediocre defense is when this team will start winning on a more consistent basis.

So overall, the Kings played horrible defense again last night and it was the main factor to why they lost.

Unfortunately, for the Kings, they are in quite a hole in the Western Conference standings (record 26-41) and the postseason is more of a fantasy for the team now than a reality.

The next competition for Sacramento will be set in Detroit as the Kings will play against the Detroit Pistons Friday night.
