Chris Paul scorched the Sacramento Kings for 40 points last night and Sacramento lost to the Los Angeles Clippers 117 -107.

The loss aside, DeMarcus Cousins beaned Chris Paul with the ball and Vanilla Ice Performed the Ninja Rap with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at halftime. So it wasn’t all bad.

It was a competitive game in the first half which had several lead changes. Offensively the Kings were able to respond to the Clippers, basket for basket.

Seth Curry had a breakout game, scoring a career-high 19 points, eleven of which came in the first half.

Sacramento led 72-64 early in the third, but Los Angeles then went on a 20-0 run to take control of the game for good. In the third quarter, the Kings were outscored 34-16, led by Chris Paul’s dominate performance. Sacramento shot 4 of 14 during that stretch.

DeMarcus Cousins was on track for a triple-double, with 26 points, 15 rebounds and 9 assists. Boogie also had two steals and two blocks. Rudy Gay scored 23 and Darren Collison finished with 18.

Chris Paul scored 23 of his 40 points in the first half. Jeff Green started for the Clippers and contributed 22 points. Jamal Crawford added 21.

The Clippers only had eight turnovers in the game. Cousins had seven by himself. The Kings had 16 total TOs.

In the fourth quarter, Boogie grabbed a loose ball and proceeded to throw it off the back of Paul’s head. Apparently Cousins was trying to retain possession of the ball by bouncing it out of bounds off of Paul.

But Cousins is known for getting frustrated and he is also known for not being the biggest fan of Chris Paul or the way he plays the game. Most agree Cousins didn’t need to aim for Paul’s head or use that much force.

There are certain teams that the Kings can’t afford to have offensive or defensive lapses during games because they will not be able to rally back and overcome it.  If they are playing the Warriors, Spurs or the Clippers, the Kings need a solid 48 minutes of play at both ends.

They can’t afford to go scoreless for 5 mins or give up 4 baskets in a row against teams like the Clippers. And Sacramento can certainly not afford to get frustrated.

But like I mentioned before, the halftime show featured Vanilla Ice Performing “Ice Ice Baby” and the “Ninja Rap” from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret Of The Ooze.  So, all in all, the night wasn’t a total loss.
