The Sacramento Kings (20-27) decided to start playing in the fourth quarter and were able to erase an 18 point deficit to the Memphis Grizzlies (28-20). But still they fell short of the victory losing 117-121. The Kings have now lost four games in a row, and All-Star DeMarcus Cousins suffered an ankle injury late in the game. It wasn’t a good night for Sacramento basketball.

The Kings trailed most of the game last night and were down by 22 points in the first half.  They managed to cut Memphis’ lead down to one point with a 3-pointer from Darren Collison with seconds left. But the Grizzlies put the game away by hitting their free throws.

Cousins left the game with just over two minutes remaining because he injured his left ankle. He had to be carried to the locker room after he rolled his ankle on the foot of Marc Gasol. Earlier in the game, he injured the same ankle in the second quarter and was taken back to the locker room.

The Grizzlies scored 36 points in the first quarter, which is par for the course in a Sacramento Kings game. Jeff Green scored 29 points and Marc Gasol had 22 points for Memphis. Courtney Lee tallied 18 points, which included clutch free throws at the end of the game.

The Kings start a two-game homestand on Monday night against the Milwaukee Bucks.
