Vlade Divac
Let’s face it, Vlade Divac was to those great Kings teams what the Frank Sinatra was to the Rat Pack. Maybe Chris Webber was Dean Martin, but I’ll save that for another list.
Vlade was signed prior to the 1998-99 season to a six-year deal worth $60 million along with Pollard and Barry and became the vocal leader for the greatest teams in Sacramento Kings history.
Vlade was an amazing passing center, a crafty scorer, and…well…a floppe. But we loved him for it. Vlade was not going to get you 20 points a night or a ton of blocks but he was the glue that brought that team together. Here are his per 36 stats with the Kings:
Season | Tm | Lg | Pos | G | GS | FG% | 3P% | 2P% | FT% | ORB | DRB | TRB | AST | STL | BLK | PTS |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1998-04 | SAC | NBA | C | 454 | 453 | .478 | .246 | .486 | .676 | 2.7 | 6.6 | 9.3 | 4.5 | 1.2 | 1.4 | 13.6 |
Of all the players that made this list, Vlade is only 1 of 2 that were initially brought in to be a starter. After Vlade’s contract ended following the 2003-04 season, he signed a one-year deal with the Lakers to finish his career.
