Sacramento Kings Preseason Schedule Announced
By Ti Windisch
We now know that despite talk that playing four games in five nights is greatly reduced, the NBA Preseason is still alive and well. The Sacramento Kings have announced their six-game preseason schedule, which is just one game less than the Kings played last season.
Sacramento begins the 2016 season in Portland on October 5th, which will be great just because it’ll finally be some more Kings basketball to watch! I’ve no idea why the Kings match up with the Portland Trail Blazers of all teams twice in their six preseason contests, but at least Damian Lillard is left to watch on a Blazers roster that’s been largely turned over from last season.

The Kings then head to Phoenix to take on the Suns at home in the atrociously named Talking Stick Resort Arena, which makes me so glad Sacramento decided on the Golden 1 Center. Seriously, the Talking Stick Resort Arena? I can’t even believe that’s the real name of that place.
It’ll be fun to see potential Ray McCallum/Marco Belinelli revenge games, as the former and newer Kings match up against each other for the first time since switching teams when the San Antonio Spurs visit Sacramento on October 8th. After that the Kings and Trail Blazers have their rematch, on October 10th.
Then it looks like Vlade Divac and company will be making another trip back to Las Vegas, for the Kings October 13th game against the Los Angeles Lakers. That game may feel a lot like the recently-concluded Las Vegas Summer League, as Willie Cauley-Stein and D’Angelo Russell will duke it out once more in Nevada.
Finally, the Kings conclude their preseason slate with a trip to Lexington, Kentucky, to match up with Anthony Davis and the Pelicans. I can make a pretty good guess as to why these two teams are meeting in the Rupp Arena, home of the Kentucky Wildcats.
DeMarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis, Willie Cauley-Stein and Rajon Rondo are all former Kentucky standouts, so this should be a great homecoming for all four of those players and also a great game to take in anyway, due to Kentucky’s great atmosphere and getting to watch Cousins and Davis go to battle again.
I want to hear from Kings fans about this one on Twitter and in the comments, but what games are you most looking forward to and who do you wish the Kings matched up with this preseason?
I know personally I was disappointed there was no game against the Golden State Warriors, I’ve been waiting on the Seth Curry on Stephen Curry matchup ever since Seth signed in Sacramento. Still though, this should be a great few games for Sacramento fans–after all, after being away from their beloved Kings all summer, who’s going to say no to more basketball?
