We’ve come a long way from discussing whether George Karl is on the verge of destroying the Sacramento Kings. Thankfully it appears he did not destroy the team at all, although we may never know how much of the reports coming in a few months ago about Karl attempting to trade DeMarcus Cousins were true or not.
Space City Scoop
Seeing as how many of the national rumors/reports about the Kings have been proven false lately (the most recent example being the Hedo Turkoglu to Sacramento story) it’s possible the entire story was greatly over-exaggerated. I fell into the trap myself with my piece on the situation, although at the time Karl did nothing to dispel the notion.
Either way, it seems like the relationship between DeMarcus Cousins and George Karl has finally taken a turn for the better, as the two have been spending some quality time together according to Boogie’s Instagram account.

This is a great picture for several reasons. First, it means that DeMarcus Cousins and George Karl are at least amicable enough to pose for a picture together, which may be definite improvement for those two. That’s the big one. Karl is a great coach who has proven he can win before, and if he can mesh with his team Sacramento could slink into the eighth seed of the Western Conference Playoffs.
The second reason is that Vlade Divac is also there. Divac has made several comments about Karl and Boogie’s relationship, and seems to be the peacemaker between them. This is apparently yet another job Vlade is good at, seeing as the center and coach seem to be getting along well enough.

It’s also a friendly reminder that Vlade is very large and noticeably bigger than DeMarcus Cousins, which is not something a lot of people can say. He also seems to really like wearing that grey button-up shirt, as pointed out by a few people in the comments of the picture.
Finally, I really love the caption. That’s classic Boogie right there. He’s aware that he caused an internet frenzy the last time he took to Twitter to drop a few emojis, so he has another one for us along with a message to anyone who writes about the Kings–“Give them something to talk about…”
Well, you’ve certainly done that once more Boogie. Although this time I believe (and I’m sure Cousins does too, this was almost certainly the point of the picture) that the talk might finally be positive regarding the Kings. Although there are some valid questions about some aspects of Sacramento’s offseason, it’s hard to find fault in the last few weeks for Vlade Divac and the Kings.
Signing a lot of talented young players to very cheap deals, hiring some really quality assistant coaches and now peace between DeMarcus Cousins and George Karl? That sounds like a string of events not even the harshest Kings critic could find too many faults in.
