Another Game, Another Lethargic Effort by the Sacramento Kings

What’s there to say? The Sacramento Kings team that was scrappy, gritty, and most importantly 9-5 is officially gone.

I remember in the beginning of the season, I would look at the schedule and no matter who the Kings would be facing next, I thought they had a chance to win.

Now that we are in February, I see that the Kings are playing the Jazz and thinking it would a pleasant surprise to beat a team with a record of 17-33 on the road. It has been that bad and tonight’s game added on to that.

This is how far the Kings have fallen folks, to the point where we would get overjoyed with the notion of beating up on a 17-33 team that has a ton of talent that I can’t help but dream how good they will fit on the Kings.

But as the Kings luck would have it, we can’t even beat a 17-33 team. Sad I tell you, sad!

DeMarcus Cousins was the only player tonight that played acceptable for the Kings with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Kings also struggled from the perimeter (nothing new) only shooting 23%. For the offense to thrive in this new system, players are going to have to start making threes on a consistent basis, and I don’t think Kings have shown that in even one game yet this season.

If the Kings haven’t shown that they can grow in the system Ty Corbin has put into place by now, they never will get it. Like my Editor Kareem Gantt wrote in his column a couple of days ago, it is apparent that this team has quit.

Overall, this game was not surprising to me. The Kings recently have shown lack effort in games when the going gets rough, which is what they showed not only tonight, but for the past two months.

The Kings next stop is in Phoenix tomorrow night against the gritty Suns. God help them.
