Not a bad choice at all.

As usual, NCAA March Madness is throwing surprise after surprise at fans, which is having a huge impact on 2026 NBA Draft predictions. It also doesn't help that the Sacramento Kings are going out fighting. Now, FanSided's mock draft has them picking Caleb Wilson fourth, which sounds good.

To be completely honest, it's becoming impossible to tell if Sacramento is tanking or not. Since the end of their 16-game losing streak, the Kings have been playing reasonably good basketball. At the same time, they sat 10 players in their blowout loss to the Hornets.

The problem is the Kings could easily be this bad a team without trying, but the absurd number of injuries at a time when they need to lose to get a high draft pick is a little suspicious. As it stands right now, they've slipped out of the bottom three and are projected to get the fourth lottery spot.

Really, picking fourth is great. This is an absolutely stacked draft class, loaded with game-changing talent deep into the second round. And that will work out well for the Kings as they have two second-round picks this year. Even selecting fourth will change their fortunes without question.

Caleb Wilson is a rockstar forward

This North Carolina Tar Heel is an absolute monster on the court. Wilson dunks anything in the paint, is developing a reliable three, already has a solid middie, and ferociously attacks any mismatch. He has the speed and physicality to be incredibly dangerous on offense.

When it comes to defense, Wilson still has work to do, but his growth is impressive. He has consistently shown great defensive acumen with the length and agility to be an absolute menace. With time and reps, he will become an elite NBA defender in short order.

On top of that, this guy is a culture builder in the locker room. He's a worker, a winner, and a team-first kind of guy. Going into what will inevitably be a tough rebuild process, Wilson has the right energy for the Kings. Plus, he's likely to fit in well with the base the Beam Boys are building.

At this point, several top players like AJ Dybantsa are strongly considering playing at least one more year in college. If that happens, the whole draft will be thrown off. Regardless of how it goes down, the Kings would do well selecting Caleb Wilson. He has the potential to be a foundational player.
