With training camp quickly approaching (Media Day is on September 30), the Sacramento Kings are taking care of some housekeeping by way of announcing camp deals and hosting veteran free agents for workouts. Here is an update of what the Kings have been up to in over the last week or so.

Boogie Ellis Camp Deal Is Official

One of the best stories of the Vegas Summer League for the Kings was the emergence of Boogie Ellis – Bronny James' former teammate at USC. During the summer league, Boogie Ellis averaged 10 PPG, 1.4 APG, and 1.2 SPG on 63.1% true shooting.

In July, it was reported that the Kings would be giving Ellis a camp deal, meaning that he isn't guaranteed a spot on the team's regular season roster, but he has a chance at competing for one. And now, on Monday, the Kings have officially announced the signing.

While the odds are still not in Ellis' favor, he is someone that you cannot help but root for. Hopefully, he is able to make the most of this opportunity and land a consistent spot on an NBA roster – whether that be with the Kings or another team (preferably with the Kings if he ends up being good!).

Sacramento Kings Continue Search For A Veteran Wing

Those who have been following my work on this website for the last few months know that I am a firm believer that the Kings still need a two-way wing/forward who can give the team some size, spacing, closeout attacking, and defense. Well, judging from who the Kings are bringing in for workouts, it seems that they agree with me.

We've already talked about how they hosted Jae Crowder. But on Monday, we got two other names added to the list: TJ Warren (yes, that TJ Warren) and Nassir Little.

Now, I don't think that any of these three players offers the fix that the Kings need. Of the three, I think Crowder is the one who could be the most helpful (especially with his experience on teams that have made deep playoff runs). But then again, if they were better players, they would probably* have more of a market for their services.

(*Sidebar: I say "probably" because we have seen with players like Derrick Jones Jr. that sometimes solid role players can slip through the cracks in free agency.)

If you'll recall, the Kings also had Isaiah Thomas – an all-time fan favorite – in for a workout in August.
