Marvin will be an improved perimeter shooter

Last season, Bagley was not much of a factor from behind the arc, shooting about 31.3% from three. It also wasn’t a big part of his game, averaging 1.5 attempts in 62 games. However, with \ Walton’s stated expectation of the team to take a minimum of 35 attempts from three this season, that may change.

It’s worth mentioning that Bagley does have the range, if not quite the form yet. His pull-up is a little slow at times, and his shot gets worse the less his feet are set. However, in the context of the offense, he theoretically can knock them down reliably. An advantage he has going into his second year is that, since he lacks a reputation as an outside shooter, defenders are going to give him that perimeter shot.

In a starting five that also includes Buddy Hield and De’Aaron Fox, opposing defenses are going to have to cover them from the perimeter. If Dewayne Dedmon will be planted in the paint at center, there could be plenty of opportunities for Bagley to be open from long range. If the defense allows it, it’s very possible Bagley could end up making opposing teams pay. If he can, this will open up a whole new way for the Kings to take home victories.
