According to Jason Anderson at the Sacramento Bee, the Sacramento Kings will reportedly make an announcement regarding the search for assistant coaches soon.

It appears as though the coaching search to fill out Sacramento Kings Head Coach Luke Walton’s staff is almost over, according to the Sacramento Bee.

While there’s been little information released about the search or potential candidates, the Sac Bee is reporting that an announcement will be made about the search “soon”. The news comes as Walton, who is under investigation for sexual assault, was seen publicly for the first time since the allegation surfaced, attending Thursday’s pre-draft workouts.

According to the Bee, however, Walton and Kings General Manager Vlade Divac have been conducting interviews behind the scenes, which may be the reason there’s been little information about targets to leak.

An April report from The Athletic’s Sam Amick said the Sacramento Kings had interviewed former Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks Head Coach Jeff Hornacek for the team’s lead assistant position, but there’s been no word on any potential deal since.

Still, it appears as though the Sacramento Kings are preparing to move forward with Walton as the team’s head coach, despite the ongoing investigation. After the allegation on April 22 — put forth by a  former Lakers sideline reporter — the Kings and NBA announced a joint investigation on April 25, but no timetable has been provided for when they expect a conclusion.

Concerns over Luke Walton’s coaching staff dogged him when he was with the Los Angeles Lakers, so building a top-notch staff is likely high on his — and the team’s — priority list. During his introductory press conference, Walton said he would be working closely with Divac and the front office to build his staff.
