Sacramento Kings: De’Aaron Fox Is A Finalist For NBA’s Most Improved
By Rafe Wong
Sacramento Kings’ star guard in De’Aaron Fox is officially a finalist for the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award.
Not too long ago, I wrote an article analyzing De’Aaron Fox’s chances of winning this year’s NBA’s Most Improved Player Award. In that piece, I thought Fox would finish in the top three in the race, and as of today, he will actually finish in the top three for the award at the minimum.
Swipa Makes The Cut
Not too long ago, the NBA revealed their three finalists for this season’s Most Improved Player Award. The list showcased De’Aaron Fox, Brooklyn Nets’ D’Angelo Russell, and Toronto Raptors’ Pascal Siakam.
Going Through De’Aaron’s Season
There is no question that all three players deserve recognition for their campaigns. All were able to make great strides this season which resulted in them becoming major assets for their clubs. But we are here to talk about De’Aaron Fox.
This season was a big one for Fox. After coming off a so-so rookie season, he needed to make a leap of improvement to give Kings fans hope that their team is on the up and coming.
Not only was De’Aaron able to enhance his game this season, but he also made his teammates better as he was the anchor for the squad. Prior to the season, the Kings named De’Aaron their franchise player, and as a result, he was exceptional on both ends of the court.
Offensively, Fox was able to lead Sacramento’s fast-paced offense efficiently while being one of the team’s better defenders throughout the year. Compared to his rookie numbers, Fox made a 5.7-point jump in points per game, a 2.9-point jump in assists per game, and a one-point jump in rebounds per game. He also was able to increase his percentages in every shooting category as well.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Fox had an amazing sophomore season, and it would be nice to cap it off with him being named this year’s most improved player in the league.
The NBA Award Show is scheduled on June 24th, so there is a little over a month left until we find out if Sacramento’s finest will take some hardwood back home.
