Sacramento Kings: De’Aaron Fox Is Not That Scary, Lonzo, Stephen
By Rafe Wong
The Sacramento Kings will face off against the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors in the next couple of days. But those teams will be without the services of their top point guards. Is it because of De’Aaron Fox?
Preseason play continues for the Sacramento Kings as they face off against the Los Angeles Lakers tonight and the Golden State Warriors the next day. These 24+ hours should be exciting for the Kings. Not only will they play against superstar LeBron James for the first time since he has joined the Lakers, but also against a Warriors team that seems to be ready to have another dominating season this year.
But even though the Kings’ youngster will be facing off against elite talent, both their opponents will be without their top facilitators. Not too long ago, it was reported that Lonzo Ball will be sidelined for the Lakers due to rest. And another report came out recently that multiple MVP Stephen Curry will miss Friday’s game against Sacramento for personal reasons.
If these two players were to suit up against the Kings, they would have been matched up against De’Aaron Fox. Sounds crazy. But is Fox the reason why they are sitting out?
Are They Ducking Fox?
I know, I know. It is ridiculous to think that Fox is the ACTUAL reason why Ball and Curry are missing their games against the Kings. But just saying, this is not the first time point guards have sat out against the Kings due to questionable reasons, at least for Ball’s sake.
Since both were drafted to their respected teams, Fox and Ball have only faced off against each other twice throughout their NBA careers. A very low number considering the Kings and Lakers have competed against each other numerous times in both preseason and regular season play.
Come on, Lonzo. De’Aaron Fox is not that threatening.
Conclusion
Obviously, I do not think Ball or Curry are scared to play against Fox. But the Kings community has poked fun at the joke that Lonzo keeps ducking De’Aaron ever since Fox led the Kentucky Wildcats past Ball’s UCLA Bruins in the March Madness tournament.
Lonzo and Stephen. It is ok that you do not want to face De’Aaron Fox now. But make sure to be ready once the regular season comes along. 😉
