Important Upcoming Dates For The Sacramento Kings

Here are some dates a Sacramento Kings fan should have highlighted on their calendar as their team’s 2017-2018 campaign is about to begin.

With the Sacramento Kings’ season opener looming amongst us, I thought it would be important for basketball fans, especially Kings fans, to be aware of the significant upcoming dates for the purple and white.

So without further ado, let’s get onto the list of what to look forward to this upcoming month!

September 25th: Media Day!

This is kind of the unofficial start to the Kings’ 2017-2018 season. On this day, the players and coaches of the Kings will make themselves available to the media for interviews and media day festivities.

NBA2K’s Rachel DeMita will be the host of the exciting event in which one can view her interviewing the players live on the Kings’ Facebook page. Other figures like Grant Napear, Kings’ play-by-play commentator, and Doug Christie, a former player of the Kings will make an appearance as well. The event will even be broadcasted live on CSN Bay Area.

September 26th: Training Camp

The time to actually hit the hardwood for the Kings will begin on this day as their training camp begins! This will be the time where Dave Joerger and his group will have the chance to have his team competing with and against each other.

During this stage of the season, Joerger will have a better idea of how the depth chart will be set up as the season will be just weeks away from this point.

October 2nd: First Preseason Game!

This day will be the first preseason game for the Kings as they face off against the San Antonio Spurs at the Golden 1 Center. This contest will be the first of six in which the Kings will participate in during their preseason campaign. These games will give Joerger and company better clarification at where his team and specific players are at to begin the season.

Preseason for the Kings will begin on October 2nd and end on October 13th against the Golden State Warriors.

October 18th: Home Opener!

The moment every Kings fan is currently waiting for, the team’s first regular season game of the new year! In this game, the Kings will face off against the Houston Rockets who are considered to be a Western Conference powerhouse going into this season.

With the Kings playing against a quality opponent like the Rockets, the atmosphere of the Golden 1 Center is likely to be wild. Although the Rockets may be heavy favorites to win this match, you can’t count the Kings out with them playing at home for the first time since mid-April.

October 25th: Boogie Reunion

This day will be the first time former King, DeMarcus Cousins, plays in the Golden 1 Center for the first time as an opponent. For the last seven years, Cousins has played a big part in the Kings organization and the city of Sacramento.

Emotions will definitely be strong during this game as Kings fans still have a strong love for their former player.

Final Thoughts

So, everyone. These are five important dates which every hardcore Kings fan should have marked on their planner. With the season about to start, nothing but optimism and excitement should be filling up the skies in the Kings’ fanbase.
