The NBA regular season schedule hasn’t been entirely released yet, but here is who the Sacramento Kings will face in their season opener.

According to Carmichael Dave, radio personality for KHTK Sports, the Sacramento Kings will host the Houston Rockets on October 18 in their 2017-2018 season opener. The rest of the NBA schedule is due to be released to the public later today.

Thoughts

It will be difficult for the Kings to start their season on a high note. Sacramento has had little success against the Rockets in the past few years. During the last three seasons, the Rockets have defeated the Kings ten times in the eleven matchups they have played each other. The Rockets have also outscored the Kings by a whopping 135 points in those games (per Land of Basketball).

Most people might cross this game out as an “L” for the purple and white, but let’s remember that we are talking about the Kings.

For the last couple of years, the Kings have been a confusing franchise. Heck, they might be the most unusual team in all of sports for a while now. Part of the reason for this is how the team performs against certain levels of competition. The purple and white usually showcase their best basketball against the top teams in the NBA, but unfortunately, display their worst performances against the league’s inferior opponents.

The Rockets are considered a powerhouse in the Western Conference this season which might motivate the Kings to start their season playing their best basketball in front of an electric crowd at the Golden 1 Center.

Overall, the Kings have a tough game to start their new campaign, but history has proven that no one can count out the Sacramento Kings in any matchup. Can the season just start already!
