The public now has a date when DeMarcus Cousins will return to play against his former team in the city that he has grown to love for the past seven years.

Not too long ago, it was reported by Carmichael Dave, radio personality for KHTK Sports, that the Sacramento Kings will host the New Orleans Pelicans on October 25, 2017.

This will be the first game where Pelicans’ star big man, DeMarcus Cousins, will play against his former team in the city of Sacramento. The game will also be shown on TNT for the national public to watch as well.

Opinion

This game might be one of most highly anticipated matchups for Kings fans to watch this upcoming season. The Kings didn’t have much team success with Cousins as their main guy, but nevertheless, he was still beloved by the team’s community.

During his time in Sacramento, Cousins was no doubt the most talented player on his teams as he averaged 21.1 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 3 assists per game over the last six-plus seasons.

As a result of his production, while wearing purple, Cousins has achieved various individual accolades which include representing the Western Conference in the past three All-Star games, being a member of the All-NBA Second Team twice, and being the owner for many of the Kings’ statistical records.

Not only did Sacramento revere Cousins on the hardwood, but also outside of the basketball court where he led and participated in many charitable events towards the people of the city. His love towards the community is strong, which led to an emotional goodbye when he was traded back in February.

Final Thoughts

The Kings are in a major rebuilding stage right now, so this matchup might be the most exciting game for Kings fans to have on their calendars. The game will definitely be emotional as the admiration between Cousins and the Kings’ fanbase is strong, and I expect the Sacramento crowd to applaud their former star when his name is announced prior to tipoff.
