Sacramento Kings draft grades: Justin Jackson at pick 15
By Tyler Watts
The Sacramento Kings selected Justin Jackson at pick 15 in the 2017 NBA Draft. This article gives the Kings a grade and a reaction to that pick.
The Sacramento Kings traded back from tenth overall to pick 15 and selected Justin Jackson. Jackson was the ACC Player of the Year and National Champion last season at the University of North Carolina. Below I give Sacramento a grade and my reaction to that pick.
Draft Grade- A-
Reaction
I love that the Kings traded back from pick ten. Sacramento needs to add talent to their roster, and three first round selections should jump start their rebuild. Picking five, 15 and 20 overall gives them three potential rotation pieces for next season and years to come.
The selection of Justin Jackson was a wise pick. Jackson provides Sacramento with a much-needed wing who can do a little bit of everything. The Kings need Jackson to play solid defense and be shooter around fifth overall pick De’Aaron Fox. He is well suited to fill that role making it a great pick. The only thing that kept this selection from an A+ is Jackson played three years at North Carolina and is already 22 years old. Still young, but it stands to reason that a 19-year-old would have a little higher upside for the rebuilding Kings.
Final Thoughts
The Sacramento Kings are nailing this draft with their first two picks. Getting Fox, Jackson, and the 20th overall pick at this point is fantastic work by GM Vlade Divac and company. Let us hope the Kings nail their final two selections and continue what appears to be a great draft.
