Buddy Hield Earns Rookie of the Month Honors
By Rafe Wong
Sacramento Kings fans have another reason to feel #SacramentoProud today as the news came out that the NBA rewarded Buddy Hield as the league’s Western Conference Rookie of the Month for the month of March.
The other rookie of the month for the Eastern Conference was Dario Saric from the Philadelphia 76ers.
This is the second time this season where Buddy was awarded this honor. The first time it happened was last year in December when he was playing for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Thoughts
In my opinion, Buddy definitely earned this honor. In the month of March, Buddy was exceptional for the Kings on the offensive end of the floor as he averaged 14.1 points a game while shooting 48.3% from the floor, 42.5% from the perimeter, and 84% from the free-throw line in the 16 games that he played in. The numbers of an ideal two-guard that the Kings have been clamoring for in quite some time.

Final Thoughts
It’s been awhile since a Sacramento King was awarded the Rookie of the Month award. The last time it occurred was all the back in 2013 when Ben McLemore won it in the month of November.
Although it’s been a small sample so far, Buddy Hield is turning heads in the Sacramento Kings community with his play. If he continues to improve like he did with his play last March, the Kings have found their starting two-guard for years to come.
