Marco Belinelli has gotten a lot of heat during this season with the Sacramento Kings. So far in 68 games wearing purple and white he has averaged 10.2 points per game off of shooting 38.6% from the field overall and 30.6% from the perimeter. Both percentages career-lows for the Italian markman.

When Belinelli signed a three-year contract with Sacramento this past Summer the fans were ecstatic that the Kings may have found their sharpshooter that the team has desperately been looking for. Instead, similar to many of their other solutions for shooters in the past, it hasn’t gone as expected.

Before the month of March, Belinelli through the months has only recorded a field goal percentage of 40% or higher in 2 months (November and December) and has only shot 35% or higher from the three-point line in two months as well (October and November).

Although Belinelli has struggled this season recording career low numbers percentage wise, he is having himself a solid month of March. By far his best month yet in a Sacramento uniform.

In the 12 games that he has appeared in during the third month of the year he has averaged 9.2 points per contest while recording a field goal percentage of 40.8% and a 37% from beyond the arc. Those are season-highs, in terms of monthly regular season numbers, for Belinelli since signing with the Kings.

What Belinelli is producing this month was suppose to be the kind of production that the Kings expected he would contribute throughout the entire season.

Although fans are starting to see the real Belinelli play a lot later than expected, it shouldn’t be ignored that he is showing improvement trying to find his niche in the Kings system.

The Kings still have 8 games left in this painful season and even though Belinelli is nursing a foot injury at the moment, hopefully, he can get healthy and continue to build on the production that he has been getting in the month of March.
