One of the biggest pet peeves that Sacramento Kings fans have towards their team is their inability to make jump shots. Last season the Kings were ranked 20th in the league in 3P% (.341) and ranked 27th (.333) in the same category the year before. For Sacramento, making shots is key for the success of their offense.
Everyone knows that All-Star big DeMarcus Cousins will dominate in the paint, and as a result he attracts defenses to double team him in the interior. When that happens, it leaves other Kings players wide open at the perimeter where most likely they will have easy opportunities to make shots. Unfortunately, the Kings have been unable to take advantage of this aspect of the game.

The Kings front office have noticed this hole in their roster, and recently have tried to resolve it through the draft with selections like Ben McLemore and Nik Stauskas. Sadly, it hasn’t panned out. Because of that, the Kings are taking a different approach this offseason, by adding shooters from free agency that have proven to be successful shooters throughout their careers. With that being said, will the shooting woes finally end for the Kings this season?
My opinion is that I think Sacramento is taking a big step in the right direction. I think with the collective group that the Kings have now, they will significantly improve their shooting efficiency and consistency compared to last year’s team. To support my premise, here is a slideshow of five shooters on the team that I think will positively impact the improvement in the Kings shooting numbers this upcoming season.
