Earlier this week the Sacramento Kings and former number one pick, Andrea Bargnani, were in talks to bring the big man to SacTown, but unfortunately or fortunately (depending on who you ask) Bargnani decided to sign a deal with the Brooklyn Nets.
It looks as if they had an automatic backup plan, as the team has now been linked to former Kings player, Luc Mbah a Moute.
Mbah a Moute was apart of the Sacramento Kings during the 2013-2014 season (well nine games of that season). During this past season Mbah a Moute could be seen in a Philadelphia 76ers uniform, averaging 9.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game.
The presence of Mbah a Moute will be seen as minimal by the way the roster is shaping up. Rudy Gay is undoubtedly the starter, whether that be at the three or four spot; Omri Casspi earned himself minutes due to the play he showed towards the end of the season.

The team has now also brought in another veteran in Caron Butler, who would be above the injury prone Mbah a Moute on the depth chart. Though a deal has yet to be announced from the time I have written this, but all signs turn to the fact that a deal is imminent, most notably the fact that Mbah a Moute has flown in Las Vegas and has been seen talking with Sacramento Kings officials.
The team still does not even seem to be done with free agency, even after the imminent Mbah a Moute signing, as it has been reported that the Kings are showing some interest in the “red mamba” aka Matt Bonner.
Bonner would be the perfect fit as an off the bench stretch four, as well as another veteran, NBA champion, and three-point shooter to add to the depth of this strongly improving roster. At the age of 35, it would be surprising to see Bonner on the court unless a foreseeable injury was to occur.

This report from Marc Stein is more of a rumor report unlike a more substantial report like hearing that the Kings and Mbah a Moute are “closing in on a deal.”
I would not be surprised that before you read this piece, that Mbah a Moute is officially signed and that the Spurs have retained Bonner, both on one year deals. This has been one of the funniest offseasons that we have had in a long time as Kings fans.
Can’t wait to see what Vlade Divac has in store for us next, maybe we can get a DeMarcus Cousins and George Karl having a dual press conference stating that their squashing their drama and moving forward. Only time will tell, until then lets just keeping watching how every storyline of the Sacramento Kings plays out.
