This one is similar but different from the Rondo situation. With Lawson the interest in the guy is completely obvious. He is a great passer (9.6 assists per game) and of course can score the basketball with ease (15.2 points per game). Stats courtesy of ESPN.

It’s his off the court problems that make him the question mark. Most recently, everyone has seen his hookah smoking video, following the Denver Nuggets drafting Emmanuel Mudiay with their 7th pick.

Now I’m not one who thinks smoking hookah is a bad thing, but you have got to be kidding me. That is just ridiculous to think that helps your value as an NBA player.

Lawson also has now a history of DUI and plenty of reporters have stated that he has a ton of baggage that follows him wherever he goes.

It’s been reported since the trade deadline earlier this season, that coach Karl has interest in reuniting with his former point guard. With Lawson’s value on the decline, acquiring him in a deal that is a discount could be a steal for Sacramento. Regardless of his ridiculous antics, Lawson produces on the floor. He is a distributing and scoring point guard, and that’s exactly what this team needs.
