Three Kings of the Night: Bulls Blow By Kings Edition

Coming off a dramatic win against the Phoenix Suns, you would think the Kings would bring that level of energy and efficiency to the Windy city against the Bulls. If that’s what you thought, you would be some-what correct.

More from Kings News

At the beginning of game, I thought Sacramento played well, and throughout the first half was competitive against a Chicago Bulls team that many think (despite their struggles) to represent the East in the NBA Finals.

But as the game progressed, the Bulls started pushing the Kings around. As a result, the Kings started to lose their energy and interest in the game.

I thought the Kings played well, but like a lot of games this season the Kings played a tale of two halves. The Kings (especially with their roster) can’t expect to win games by playing one good half and one bad.

Despite the lost there were some bright spots in the game that can’t be left unnoticed.

One King: DeMarcus Cousins

Pretty much every Kings game you can expect Cousins to be the catalyst of this young team. Despite not having the typical offensive game that Cousins brings on a gamely basis, he was able to make lots of plays by passing the ball which got his teammates involved in the scoring (especially in the first). Cousins finished the game scoring 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists.

Two Kings: Rudy Gay

It was just one of those games where Rudy was feeling it. Whether it was driving to the basket or making perimeter shots, Rudy was able to have his way with the Chicago’s defense. Gay finished the game with 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists, but the stat that was encouraging was that he shot 10-18 on the floor. Rudy can score 20+ on a nightly basis, but what separates Gay from having a good game or not is how efficiently he shoots the ball, and today he was on.

Three Kings: Ray McCallum

We talk about the strides Ben McLemore has made this season, but today the young king was Ray who deserves a spot on the Three Kings tonight. Ray, who has struggled this season (mostly due to lack of playing time) played maybe his best game yet this season. Ray was able to run the offense well and get his teammates involved in the offense. Most importantly he had his shooting stroke tonight, which resulted in him scoring 11 points while shooting 5-9 from the floor.
