Ty Corbin Has Destroyed the Sacramento Kings

December 15, 2014 is a day Sacramento Kings fans will not forget.  It was the day when Mike Malone, who despite an 11-13 record was getting the Kings to play like an actual competent team, was let go out of nowhere.

Nobody understood the move, but there is one think Kings fans does understand – Ty Corbin is a horrible head coach, and as bad luck would have it, Corbin is coaching the Kings.

Yes, the Kings freefall from legitimate playoff contenders to also-rans did start under Malone, but at least the team was competitive under Malone. But under Corbin, the Kings have looked lifeless on defense, and confused on offense, and lack confidence overall, all of the hallmarks of a bad basketball team.

We will never understand for the life of us why the Kings would let go a coach that had the admiration and respect from his players and the fans. The struggles under Malone was a direct result of not having DeMarcus Cousins in the line-up, as the Kings found out first hand that this team needed more talent surrounding Cousins and Rudy Gay.

But how does letting go of Malone justify improving the team? As we can all plainly see, Corbin has made this team worst, and he has destroyed what was at one time, a promising 2014-15 season.

There are certain coaches in the NBA that are made to be assistants, and those who are destined to be head coaches. Just because an assistant coach was on the bench with a Hall of Fame head coach, doesn’t mean that those said assistants will be good head coaches.

Ty Corbin is the exception. Corbin is a coach who has no business being on an NBA bench. His resume suggest that he would be unfit to manage a 7-Eleven, much less be a head coach in the NBA.

If you remember, it was Corbin who took over the Utah Jazz in 2011 after Hall of Fame coach Jerry Sloan was let go, and what record did he lead the Jazz to?

8-20.

Corbin’s total combine record with the Jazz in four seasons? 112-146, not much to get excited about, and he had more talent in Salt Lake City than he has with the Kings, which should tell you that it’s not the talent that’s making the Kings stink, its Corbin’s game plan, which is stale and horribly predictable.

Corbin is not a great fit for the Kings, and he has made this painfully clear. The Kings need a coach that will get this team on the right track. George Karl is the favorite, but there are other good coaches out there that deserves a chance.

Ty Corbin has destroyed the Kings. Now it’s time for another coach to come in and repair the damage.
