Francisco Garcia continued his stellar play in the FIBA Amercias Championship tournament yesterday as he lead the Dominican Republic to a 100-87 victory over Panema. A game after scoring 17 points, shooting 5 of 10 from the arc and blocking five shots, Garcia erupted for a team high 24 points, nailing 5 of 8 from distance.
Garcia has been training increadibly hard this offseason in hopes of improving his game, and continued efforts like this show the time and effort are paying off.
Though, I’m not sure Donte Greene is all that thrilled with Cisco’s English skills…
After the game, Cisco posted this [...]

Top o da mornin to you my little basketball freaks. It’s another boring week during this painfully long offseason, but there are some Sacramento King nuggets out there worth mentioning that don’t require a full on post.
According to Sean May, he finished up his degree – good on him.
SI.com thinks the Kings are horrible. And they hate puppies. And candy. Fuckers.
Mitch Richmond and Bobby Jackson are making an updates Tales From The Crypt show. No – I’m serious. There will even be appearances from FLAVOR FLAV!!!!!!!!! Sadly.
BleacherReport has some good things to say about the Kings. Also, some not so [...]

If only I could find some more salt for this wound….
Yahoo Sports ran down a list of the ten best teams that couldn’t get it done when it mattered, and our 2001-2002 Sacramento Kings came in second behind the 2008-2009 Cleveland Cavs, which uh…doesn’t make a lot sense. But whatever. The Kings also had the 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 teams as honorable mentions. Yay us! We finally won something!!
2. Sacramento Kings, 2001-02
This team deserved a championship so much that Ralph Nader thought he’d lend a hand in helping them out. The Kings were absolutely jobbed by the referees in a Game [...]

Another day, another poop on the Kings article – this time coming from the usually positive BleacherReport.com.
While I wont bore you with the extremely long read, this was the piece contributed about the Kings:
29. Sacramento Kings: Kevin Martin, Tyreke Evans, and Spencer Hawes
Kevin Martin has become one of the best scoring shooting guards in the NBA over the past few seasons and looks to have a very bright future ahead of him. He is one of the best scorers in the game but does not give you much else aside from that scoring.
Tyreke Evans is a huge question mark [...]

Okay, I try to avoid being a homer for the most part and I think I succeed pretty well, most of the time. But, 30th? Really? I understand we had the worst record (by far) in the NBA last season, and I also understand we are not a very good team right now. But, are teams like the Grizzlies REALLY better than us?
Are analysts forgetting that we lost Kevin Martin for about 30 games and many of the games he did play in, he was hobbled with his multiple ankle injuries. And while the record might not have shown it, [...]

Okay, I like you Reke, I really do…but, for the 756th time, it’s “Jason Thompson”, not “Jason Thomas”. Unless Kenny Thomas impregnated Jason Thompson this off-season, in which case, we’ve got bigger issues than a flubbed up name. Though, I wouldn’t put it past Kenny. That bastard.
Overall though, a very cool interview with Tyreke Evans, even if he sounds like he just woke up.
Of course, I never actually SAW this on ESPNews, which makes me believe the folks in Bristol might be Nazi’s. Or Laker fans. Same difference.

Well, according to the BleacherReport.com, they think it’s quite the possibility:
This year, people were hating on the draft class. They said no one will be an all-star besides Blake Griffin which is false. This class has many other studs such as Tyreke Evans, Stephen Curry, James Harden, and more.
Evans could be as good as Griffin and could possibly go down as the best player in this draft class once his shot improves. Curry will be good depending on how much Don Nelson plays him. James Harden will be a key factor to the young Oklahoma City Thunder who will make [...]

It’s a draining part of the year for basketball fans, though, it was nice to catch the thrilling Kings/Warriors game on NBATV last evening. We still had John Salmons and Brad Miller on the roster at the time, and the pains (panes) it caused me to watch him fumble around in the final moments like a wobbling Redwood are simply not describable.
With that said, let’s take a look at the minimal going on’s around the Kingsdom:
SKDT updating us on their debut in China
Andrew Nicholson with a great feature on Omri Casspi
Sean May has a 100k weight clause in his contract
Kevin [...]

It almost seems like yesterday. I was only 5, almost 6 at the time and it was the first year I can really remember watching the Kings. My love of basketball started that year. I didn’t really understand much about wins or losses. I didn’t understand if the Kings were any good or poor…I just knew I liked what I saw. And then one late August day, 20 years ago today, I remember watching the news with my Grandparents and was struck by the news that Kings rookie Ricky Berry had taken his own life. I really didn’t understand it. [...]
