It's been a slow start to the Sacramento Kings' 2025-2026 season. Thanks to a recent win over the Bucks, there are at least signs of life. Regardless of how bad the Kings are doing, Zach LaVine continues to shoot the lights out basically every game, literally to a historic level.
If there's one thing that LaVine has been known for throughout his NBA career, it's his shooting. He is a devastating threat on offense with a lifetime average of 20.9 points per game. In more recent seasons, his shooting has gotten even better, which is saying a lot.
The Kings are only a few games into the 2025-2026 season, and LaVine is putting on a show. He's averaging 27.4 points per game. That puts him at number 11 this season in points per game, behind players like Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
LaVine is both the strongest and most consistent shooter that Sacramento has on their roster. In the first six games of the season, he only scored under 30 points once. Not only is that important for the Kings right now, it's actually a historic performance for the franchise.
LaVine makes Kings' history
Zach LaVine is the fourth player in the history of the franchise to have five 30+ point games in the first six games of the season. Both Jack Tywman and Oscar Robertson had six, and Tiny Archibald had five. That's rather elite company to find yourself in.
But there is a twist to this. LaVine is the only player since the franchise moved to Sacramento to pull this feat off. Twyman, Robertson, and Archibald all achieved this level of scoring to open the season before the Kings made the trip to California and started calling the West Coast home.
LaVine is on an incredible scoring run right now and shows no signs of slowing down. The lowest number of points he's pulled in this season was 15 in their seventh game against the Nuggets. Most of the time, he has constantly scored in the range of 30 to 32 points, which is impressive.
In addition to being historic, LaVine's scoring is integral to the Kings having any kind of success this season. They need his 29.5 points per game to even have a shot at winning, with him scoring 31 points in both of their victories. He is a major player in the current incarnation of the Kings.
