DeMar DeRozan may have only been on the Sacramento Kings for one full season, but he's going into his 17th season. That means he recognizes talent when he sees it, and he likes what he's seeing from Nique Clifford, someone who will be a big star. And no one is disagreeing with DeMar.

When a six-time All-Star is singing your praises in media scrums, you must be doing something right. That seems to be the case for Clifford who has found himself on the receiving end of a lot of positive chatter from his teammates and coaches. Most recently, DeRozan chimed in on the rookie.

After 16 years in the NBA, DeRozan knows what it takes to have a lasting presence in the league. DeMar spoke of Clifford's skillset, willingness to learn, and how he is constantly asking questions in an attempt to develop and acclimatize to the NBA quickly.

These are all hallmarks of the level of maturity that defined Clifford's preseason play, particularly when he was asked to start in the fourth and final preseason game. It was the team's only victory, something he contributed to greatly with scoring and playmaking.

The future of Nique Clifford

Simply put, DeRozan spoke the gospel with his comments on Nique. The entire league has noticed his performance and work ethic, noting him as a bright spot in a difficult Kings' preseason. Everyone can feel there's something big coming from Clifford, though DeMar put it into words.

The 23-year-old from Colorado Springs, Colorado, still has a lot of work to grow into his role. What sets him apart is that he isn't afraid of that work. This is someone who seems like he knows that he has the tools to succeed but also knows he needs help to get there.

Still, to have the level of composure and maturity he has on the court at his age and experience level is special. In that way, he's reminiscient of Nikola Jokic. Clifford is excited to be there, but he also seems to recognize being in the NBA as his job and he's there to do the work.

If Clifford continues to approach the NBA with grace, maturity, and a desire to improve while checking his ego at the door, the sky will be the limit for him. Nique obviously has the skills and athleticism to play in the NBA, That mentality is what it takes to be a legend.
