And he's not wrong.

With the 2025 media day for the Sacramento Kings come and gone, the league is one step closer to the kickoff of the 2025-2026 season. There weren't really a lot of surprises for the Kings, although there were a couple of interesting names both on and off the training camp roster.

The big goal for this season is to move past the Kings' disastrous 2024-2025 season. With the firings of Mike Brown and Monte McNair, as well as trading De'Aaron Fox away mid-season, it was a chaotic period for the franchise. No one summed that up better than DeMar DeRozan.

DeMar gets real on the Kings

Being that he is a borderline NBA legend at this point, all the media in attendance wanted to chat with DeMar DeRozan about 2024-2025. True to form for someone known for his candor, DeMar got real with his thoughts about last season.

Not surprisingly, most coverage focused on his language. It was salty but appropriately so. DeRozan's comments about last season being a "s---show" were an accurate description of both the situation and how fans felt about last season. Now, the Kings just need to do something about it.

DeRozan is on point

Not mincing words or masking his opinions is a hallmark of how DeMar has always approached his career in basketball. These specific comments were refreshing because they spoke to the reality of where the Kings are at and gave them a clear goal moving forward.

It might not seem like much, but simply improving over last season would be a monumental achievement. Everyone would love to see them win a title this season, but it takes time to grow. Incremental steps will be important as the franchise works to right the ship and become a winner.

And step one is not being a complete "s---show."
