Sacramento Kings training camp starts tomorrow, and fans are hopefully excited. The Kings didn't exactly have a huge offseason, with few big trades completed. Fans were looking for a more balanced roster in 2025-2026 that would prove to be contenders this season.
That being said, it could still be an interesting season. There are a lot of great players on the roster who can generate high-octane offense. Plus, it's always a lot of fun to watch the Kings' double-double machine, Domantas Sabonis, go to work.
Leading into training camp, the Kings have brought in some new faces on Exhibit 10 contracts. Some players have already been waived and will go to the Stockton Kings for now, but they do bode well for the future of the Kings. Well, as long as the front office doesn't trade them for some magic beans.
Kings' new talent
The Kings have signed Jaylin Williams. No, not the Jaylin from OKC, which will get confusing if he ends up on the NBA roster for good. He's a 6'8" wing that can shoot the three and plays a defensively-minded game. Those are all things that the Kings desparately need.
Jameer Nelson Jr. is the very definition of a true point guard. With the departure of De'Aaron Fox and the impending arrival of Dennis Schroeder, the Kings need depth in that position. He also has a strong wingspan, meaning he could be impactful on the defensive end of the court.
In addition to Williams and Nelson, the Kings have signed free agent shooting guard Dennis Dexter to a non-guaranteed contract. He played for the Stockton Kings last season, helping them win the NBA G League Championship. Unlike Jaylin and Jameer, Dennis remains on the training camp roster.
This means the Kings' training camp roster is full, though there has also been talk of Sacramento signing forward Daniel Batcho to an Exhibit 10 deal. For that to happen, cuts will need to be made. And the Kings need young forwards more than they need more guards.
