A reliable G League shooter could help shore up the Kings' offense

He has that 3&D mentality.

The Sacramento Kings need a solid 3&D player. To be fair, they already have one in Keon Ellis, but the Kings don't seem to like playing him. Sacramento does have another option down in the G League, though, and Daeqwon Plowden has been making some serious noise on the Stockton Kings.

Another undrafted player like his Stockton teammate Dylan Cardwell, Plowden is on a two-way contract with Sacramento. The difference between him and Cardwell is that Daeqwon has played on several G League teams in the last few years and bounced between multiple NBA franchises.

Plowden's NBA journey started in the 2022 Summer League when he played with the Pelicans. They signed him and waived him, which led to him playing on their G League team. That same pattern has followed him ever since, as he keeps bouncing around both the G League and the NBA.

It's unfortunate as Daeqwon could be a solid bench player for a franchise. Each of his four seasons in the G League has shown consistent improvement, leading to him starting every game for Stockton so far this season. He's become a reliable 3&D player that Sacramento could really put to good use.

Daeqwon Plowden could be a big part of the rebuild

The 2025-2026 G League season has been incredibly good to Plowden. While he has consistently shown year-over-year improvement, the jump from 2024-2025 has been quite drastic. He went from averaging 14.2 points per game last season to 18.7 this season on 45.1% field goal shooting.

His other stats have predominantly followed that lead. Daeqwon's assists have jumped from 0.9 per game to three per game, while rebounds have gone from 3.7 to 4.4. Even better, he's shooting over 40% from the three-point arc, and it is looking like those numbers will only improve.

At 6 feet 4 inches and 215 pounds, Ploweden is also a solid defender, both in size and skill. That, combined with his numbers, makes him the kind of player Sacramento could develop into a reliable 3&D bench player. He could shore up their secondary with his energy and intensity.

Plowden is 29, and has been around the G League for a few years now. It's obvious that teams see value in him, yet none of them has pulled the trigger on making him a full roster member. The Kings should strongly consider Ploweden as part of their upcoming rebuild.
