Everyone wants to be remembered. It is a part of our nature as human beings. If the 2024-25 Sacramento Kings want to guarantee that they will be remembered by Sacramento fans for all of eternity, they need to either make the deepest playoff run of any team before, win the most regular season games, or have the longest win streak.*
(*Sidebar: For this post, we will only be looking at franchise records since the Kings moved to Sacramento in 1985-86.)
Sacramento Kings deepest playoff run
The furthest the Kings have made it into the playoffs was during the 2001-02 season when they infamously lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games in the Western Conference Finals.
So, if this Kings team is going to go further than that 2001-02 team, they are going to need to win the conference finals and make it all the way to the NBA Finals.
Sacramento Kings most regular season wins
The most wins the Kings have had in a regular season was also during that legendary 2001-02 season. That year, the Kings went 61-21, which was good for the best record in the Western Conference (and the best record in the entire NBA, for that matter).
The 2024-25 Kings will need to win 62 games if they plan on surpassing that team. However, doing so will be a tall task, as only one team last season (the world champion Boston Celtics) was able to win over 60 games (they won 64).
Sacramento Kings longest win streak
The longest winning streak in Kings history occurred, you guessed it, during the 2001-02. That year, the team won 12 games in a row. So, logic follows that the 2024-25 Kings will need to win 13 games in a row this year to break their record. Last season, the longest winning streak was 11 games (both the Celtics and Houston Rockets did that).
