On the court, the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings are the definition of rivals. Not only do they play in the same state, division, and conference, but the two teams have also met in the play-in/playoffs in each of the last two years.* In 2023, the Warriors defeated the Kings in seven games. Then, our Kings got revenge against them by beating them in the play-in this past season.

(*Sidebar: They also seek out similar players in the trade market).

That means that, at least by association, the two team's start guards – Stephen Curry and De'Aaron Fox – are also adversaries. However, while the two are fierce competitors on the hardwood, they are business partners off of it.

De'Aaron Fox's Signature Shoe

In 2023, Fox joined Curry's shoe brand with Under Armour. And now, Fox is revealing his first signature shoe with Curry's brand: the UA Phantom 1.

Here is what Under Armour had to say about the new shoe:

"De'Aaron Fox is known for being one of the NBA's most multidimensional athletes, so it’s no secret that he needs products that can keep up with his dynamic lifestyle off the court. Since signing with Curry Brand, Stephen Curry’s line powered by Under Armour, in 2023, De'Aaron has had a standout season for the Sacramento Kings. Coming off the heels of another impressive NBA season, De’Aaron is also the face of a new campaign for Under Armour with partners Foot Inc., reintroducing the UA Phantom 1 – Under Armour's solution for the multidimensional athlete looking for a versatile shoe that has the right mix of performance and style."

Fox is currently the only member of the Kings with his own signature shoe. That is sort of surprising since DeMar DeRozan is now on the team. You'd think someone who is considered such a "pure hooper" would get his own shoe, but I guess not.

Fox was the first player to sign with Curry brand. Up until now, he is the only NBA player to do so. However, there are two NCAA athletes who have since signed with Curry Brand: Keisei Tominaga (NCAAM) and MiLaysia Fulwiley (NCAAW).

Fox and Curry won't play each other again until at least Sunday, January 5 – when the Kings travel to the Chase Center to play the Warriors. Other than that, the two teams are guaranteed to play one another at least three more times in 2024-25 (January 22, February 21, and March 13).
