Cropped photo shows that Twitter still doesn't respect the Sacramento Kings

For a long time, the Sacramento Kings were in the doldrums of the NBA hierarchy. Up until 2023, the Kings went 16 seasons without even making the playoffs, and they have gone two decades without fielding a top 10 defense.

However, over the last couple of years, the team has done everything they can to change the perception of them. In the last two seasons, the Kings have averaged 47 wins, and in 2022-23, they lead the NBA in offensive rating. This offseason, they even beat out teams like the Los Angeles Clippers/Lakers and the Miami Heat for the services of DeMar DeRozan.

But none of that seems to matter to the rest of the league, as they still view the team as an afterthought.

Domantas Sabonis is cropped out of a photo

On Monday, Netflix held the premiere of their new show, "Starting 5." For those who are unaware, the show will follow Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards, LeBron James, Domantas Sabonis, and Jayson Tatum on and off the court during the 2023-24 season (the show debuts on October 9).

Anyway, during the premiere, the five stars of the show all posed for a picture...

...but unfortunately, one Twitter (I refuse to call it "X") user took it upon themselves to crop Sabonis out of the photograph, implying that he didn't deserve to be featured in it.

On the surface, this may not seem like much, but it is a clear sign of disrespect to the Kings and their star big man. Yes, Butler, James, Tatum, and Edwards are all bonafide superstars who have been the authors of huge playoff moments in the past. But Sabonis is no slouch, either. He's only 28, and he already has three All-Star appearances and two All-NBA nominations. Last season, Sabonis also set the record for consecutive double-doubles (61).

The only thing Sabonis and the Kings don't have going for them is playoff pedigree. But after their monster offseason, that could all change. The 2024-25 Kings are the best team Sabonis has ever been on, and the best team Sacramento has sported in the last two decades. If it does change, hopefully, people stop cropping our players out of pictures and start giving our organization the love it deserves.
