5 Moves the Kings need to make during the 2024 offseason

Move #5: Add Functional Size
This kind of goes hand-in-hand with Move #4, but if the Kings are going to follow the template laid out by the Nuggets (the championship team of recent memory that most resembles their roster construction), they are going to need to add more functional size around Fox and Sabonis (to learn more about what we're talking about, check this post here).
The small forward position is in good hands with Keegan Murray. He's a dead I marksman (career 38.4% 3-point shooter) who was in the 64th percentile in block rate. All he needs to do is add some more off-the-dribble juice, and he'll be as golden as the Kings' arena (something he very well could add to his bag this season).
The real points of concern are power forward (obviously) and shooting guard. Huerter is a better positional rim protector than Barnes (54th percentile in block rate among wings, per Cleaning the Glass). But his shakey overall defense (23rd percentile in DEF EPM) and the down offensive season he's coming off of (and the emergence of Ellis) make him expendable.
If the Kings re-sign Monk, it'll be harder for them to add quality functional size in free agency (since they will be limited to the BAE and veteran minimums. I've already mentioned Green and Tate as potential options. Some other names they could take flyers are Kris Dunn, Torrey Craig, and Robert Covington.
More than likely, the functional size we are looking for will have to come in the 2024 NBA Draft or via trade. We'll talk more about potential prospects in this draft that could fill that void in the coming days (one name that immediately stands out is Tristan da Silva). As for a possible trade, some realistic targets are Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Jerami Grant, Dorian Finney-Smith, Dyson Daniels, Naz Reid, and Isaiah Stewart.
If the Kings can successfully execute these five moves, they aren't guaranteed to be one of the last teams standing next June, but they can increase their chances of doing so, which is all you can ever really ask for.
