Now that Media Day has come and gone, the 2024-25 NBA regular season is nearly upon us. After a monster offseason, the Sacramento Kings have their fair share of expectations.

But what do the Kings need to do to avoid falling short of these expectations? In this post, we discuss three things the Kings MUST do in order to avoid disappointing their fans in 2024-25.

#1: Make the DeMar DeRozan fit work

As we alluded to in the introduction, the Kings had a busy offseason. The headliner of all their transactions was six-time All-Star and three-time All-NBA selection DeMar DeRozan, who the Kings acquired in a three-time sign and trade.

Given DeRozan's status as a player and the fact that he chose Sacramento over more luxurious cities like Los Angeles and Miami, fans are very excited about his addition to the team. It would be a real disappointment to them if the Kings couldn't figure out how to make him fit alongside De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.

Given the fact that DeRozan and Fox both like to operate with the ball in their hands and that none of them are great spacers, there is a chance that the three players have a hard time synergizing on the court. However, if early reports from training camp are any indication, this doesn't seem to be an issue.

If the Kings want to make their fans happy, they will need to make sure DeRozan and the Kings don't become the Phoenix Suns (the team with a ton of talent that doesn't fit together) of this year.
