2. Kevin Huerter

Kevin Huerter’s 2023-24 season has been a rollercoaster ride. He started off struggling to defend and to make shots and seemed in danger of losing his starting spot. Then he settled in and looked more like himself, but not for long.

December has been rough, and last night was no different. Putting up 5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block, Huerter’s performance was very forgettable. He couldn’t hit his shots, conveying only 2 of his 8 field goal attempts, but he also didn’t find another way to impact the game.

This has been a theme all month long, and if Huerter doesn’t get out of his slump, the Kings have a much bigger problem than just last night’s game. When Huerter is hitting shots and getting deflections, he is the perfect shooting guard to play alongside Fox, Sabonis, and Murray.

If he can’t get back to playing that way, the Kings need to upgrade or at least make some lineup changes. Otherwise, they won’t get to that next level.
