With the season over for the Sacramento Kings, the next step in the rebuild will be the 2026 NBA Draft. The front office already knows who their preferred acquisitions are. While a player like Pryce Sandfort likely isn't on the list, he is someone the Kings should be paying attention to.

Sandfort has played three seasons in the NCAA, first as an Iowa Hawkeye and now as a Nebraska Cornhusker. Last season, he established himself as a legit three-point threat with one of the quickest shot releases in college basketball. He is especially dangerous from beyond the arc.

Beyond that, Sandfort has developed into a three-level scorer. He can hit the three with remarkable efficiency, but can also drive to the rim or finish in the mid-range. Plus, his quick shot makes him incredibly dangerous in transition. Sandfort keeps the play moving and spaces the floor well.

On top of that, he has developed physically. During the 2025 offseason, Sandfort hit the gym hard and put on some serious muscle. This has helped him be tougher in the paint and when he drives from the perimeter. Sandfort's high IQ lets him put this all to good use and keep him in the mix.

Sandfort could be great choice for the Kings

It's hard to say if Sandfort is on Sacramento's radar or not. FanSided's most recent 2026 mock draft doesn't include him as being chosen by anyone. To be fair, he has yet to even declare for the draft, and has indicated that he's also interested in running it back with Nebraska.

If he does enter the draft this year, Sandfort would be a great pick for the Kings. His shooting, basketball IQ, and high ceiling make him a perfect addition to the roster. Plus, he's a strong passer. The younger Kings squad has been showing great ball movement in the latter part of the season.

There's also a chance that Sandfort doesn't get drafted at all. If that happens, the Kings would be able to pick him up as an undrafted player, a move that worked out incredibly well for them with Dylan Cardwell. Sacramento could strike gold again, regardless of how they get Sandfort on the team.

Assuming Sandfort chooses to be part of the 2026 NBA Draft, it's hard to say how this will play out for him since he hasn't been part of the mock drafts. Whether it's this year or next, he'll do well with whichever team selects him. Hopefully, that team is the Kings.
