After dropping their tenth loss in a row to the immensely beatable Memphis Grizzlies, the Sacramento Kings are now deep into their longest losing streak of the season. If that's not bad enough, the Kings are riding the longest active losing streak in the NBA, and it's not going to get better any time soon.
Sacramento has been hanging out in the NBA's basement playing Dungeons & Dragons with their friends for the entire season. Lately, they've been sitting at dead last in the Western Conference as well as dead last in the league. If you're going to be the worst, be the best at being the worst.
They took on the Memphis Grizzlies last night, a team that was, and is, in extreme flux. The four players they traded to Utah are gone while the four players they acquired aren't there yet. Memphis went into this game with a roster in upheaval and short four starters, including Ja Morant.
Yet, the Kings still managed add a game to their losing streak with a final score of 129 to 125. This was the game to break that streak before it got worse. Now, Sacramento has a record of 12 wins and 40 losses with some tough games on the horizon for them.
Rubbing salt in the Kings' wound
Losing to the Grizzlies in their current state is bad. Sinking to the bottom of the Western Conference is worse. Having the worst record in the entire league should be about as bad as it gets. Somehow, the 2025-2026 Kings keep finding ways to dig that hole just a little bit deeper.
Sacramento has the longest active losing streak in the league at 10 consecutive losses, and it's not even a little bit close. The second longest losing streak across the NBA belongs to the Portland Trail Blazers. In their case, that's only six losses, a full four behind the Kings.
Need more? There's another angle you can look at this situation from that makes it even worse. The longest active winning streak in the NBA right now is the New York Knicks with eight. The Kings have more consecutive losses than the current winningest team has consecutive victories.
This is what Kings' basketball is going to look like for the rest of this season. Even if they string together a couple of wins here and there, they'll always slide back into this kind of rhythm. For now, Sactown fans are just hoping the Kings can snap this slide before it gets even worse.
