As the countdown continues towards the beginning of the 2025-2026 NBA season, teams start getting their rosters in place. Some of those moves are for training camp, and some will influence the rest of the season. The Sacramento Kings have certainly made their share of trades and cuts.

That being said, there was a hope among fans that the Kings would do more in that regard. Few moves were made to correct the imbalances in the roster that have plagued the team for the past couple of seasons. There is a lot of work to be done.

The front office seemed really focused on bringing in Russell Westbrook, even though such a move wouldn't have fixed those problems. A roster spot was even opened up, potentially for Westbrook, though it looks like the Kings have given up on that.

Terence Davis is back for now

The player released to free up that spot was Terence Davis, a Beam Team veteran who has had a couple of runs in Sacramento. His most recent tenure came to an end in the last few weeks when the Kings waived Davis.

The move didn't exactly send shockwaves through the league, but fans were still sad to see him go.

It was assumed by many that this move was made to open up a roster spot for Westbrook. If that was the reason, then the Kings may have waited too long. The Rockets have a space to fill after the VanVleet injury and may be looking to bring in Westbrook.

For now, Sacramento has brought Davis back for training camp, likely on a deal that will see him with the Kings through training camp and into the pre-season. Then, Davis may head for the G League and spend some time with the defending champion Stockton Kings.
