After winning four straight games this season, the Sacramento Kings and their fans are riding high. On top of that, they are getting to see the birth of the Beam Squad, aka the Beam Boys, which consists of Precious Achiuwa, Maxime Raynaud, Nique Clifford, and Dylan Cardwell.

While the 2025-2026 NBA Season hasn't exactly been kind to the Kings, there have been some bright spots. A big one would be Russell Westbrook, who was brought in as a backup point guard but played so well that he's now the starter. Even better, he hasn't tried to punch out Luka Doncic yet.

Sacramento also did incredibly well during the 2025 NBA Draft, selecting Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud. While Clifford is still finding his footing, Raynaud has become one of the top rookies in the league. The Kings added to that by signing undrafted rookie Dylan Cardwell.

Once the season was rolling, the Kings decided that they needed someone to bolster their defensive presence. Somehow, Precious Achiuwa hadn't been rostered and was still a free agent. The front office brought him on board eight games into the season and hasn't looked back.

The Beam Squad is born in Sacramento

After the Kings beat the Knicks, a group consisting of Achiuwa, Raynaud, Clifford, and Cardwell all light the beam together to celebrate. Raynaud would go on to christen this crew the Beam Squad. Then the Kings beat the Wizards to make it four in a row, and they became the Beam Boys.

A huge aspect lacking from the Kings for a long time now has been an identity as a team. With these four players becoming a cohesive unit, the foundations have been laid for the development of an actual identity. This will be absolutely key to the success of the rebuild.

As Sacramento makes trades and drafts new players, the four members of the Beam Boys will be right in the thick of it. They will provide a defensive base to build off of as well as stability on offense. This group won't all be elite scorers, but they will always be in the mix.

The team will continue to grow and evolve, but the identity being created in front of fans' eyes by the Beam Team will be the glue. These are definitely the players the Kings do not want to trade away or lose during what will be a long and involved rebuild process.
