After winning four straight, the Sacramento Kings have now lost the last two games. Losing streaks are nothing new to the Kings. The only question is how long is this slide going to last. And looking at what's coming Sacramento's way over the next few days, it could be a minute until the next win.
The Kings kicked off their current home stand with four unexpected victories. Three of them were improbable wins over the Rockets, the Lakers, and the Knicks. On the other hand, the fourth win was over the Wizards, and that definitely seemed like a game Sacramento should be winning.
That win streak is a distant memory after follow up losses to the Blazers and the Heat. The Kings losing to the Blazers wasn't a shock as the Kings already fell to them twice this season. Sacramento only beat the Heat in their last meeting because Zach LaVine dropped 42 points on them.
Sacramento has one game left in this home stand against, which is tonight against the Raptors. Toronto is currently fourth in the Eastern Conference, and has been playing some overall great basketball this season. It will be a tough game, but what's next could be even worse.
The Kings are about to start a tough road trip
After the Raptors game, Sacramento will head out on a six-game road trip that will see them take on the Cavaliers and the Sixers for the first time this season. They'll also face the Knicks, Celtics, Wizards, and Pistons again, with a couple of those teams looking for payback for previous losses.
It's honestly impossible to predict how any of these games will go for the Kings. They currently have a record of 12 wins and 32 losses, making them one of the worst teams in the league. At the same time, they've won a few games they shouldn't have and lost other games that should have been wins.
Taking down the Cavs, Celtics, Sixers, and Pistons seems incredibly unlikely. The Knicks aren't playing well right now, so the Kings might eke out another win. As for the Wizards, they are one of three teams in the NBA with worse records than the Kings. That will hopefully be a Sacramento win.
Keeping all of that in mind, it would be great for team morale if the Kings finish this stretch at home off strong with a win over the Raptors. That would definitely be a bit of a confidence booster going into what's likely to be a tough road trip for Sacramento.
