Most mock drafts clearly indicate that the Sacramento Kings are going to select a new point guard in the upcoming draft. That being said, there are several great free agents out there, including Collin Sexton. He could be a game-changing point guard for the Kings if they give him a chance.

The Cavaliers selected Sexton eighth overall in 2018. After a few seasons in Cleveland, he moved to the Jazz, the Hornets, and is now on the Bulls. He has proven to be a reliable presence on each roster but has yet to find that one team that will allow him to excel. Perhaps that's the Kings.

His elite speed makes him a legit downhill threat, throwing off defenders when he cuts into the paint. Sexton's high basketball IQ allows him to identify mismatches, pick them apart, and execute some creative finishes. Plus, he is a great mid-range shooter and is solid from the three-point arc.

On defense, Sexton is all over the map. He can put full-court pressure on his opponent's ball handlers and is deadly in transition. The downside is his size, combined with his lack of off-ball awareness, can cause him to mess up assignments. But the Kings have players who can help with that.

The Kings and Sexton fit together surprisingly well

What the Kings are building with Precious Achiuwa, Dylan Cardwell, Maxime Raynaud, Nique Clifford, Devin Carter, and Daeqwon Plowden has the potential to provide great defense. How the draft and free agency pans out over the next few months will hopefully add to that.

While Sexton won't revolutionize the Kings' defense, he could fit into their scheme. He would be a solid guy to put full-court pressure on the opposition while other players like Cardwell and Raynaud lock the paint down. Plus, Achiuwa is always around to make up the difference.

Sexton's high-energy offense, combined with his seasoned playmaking ability, makes him a great point guard for the Kings. While he might have some weaknesses on defense, he could fit nicely into the scheme Sacramento is slowly putting together. He won't be DPOY, but he won't hold them back.

On top of that, bringing Sexton in would open up the Kings' draft options. Going with someone like Darius Acuff Jr. would be a great choice, assuming he doesn't get selected earlier. That being said, using that pick for Yaxel Lendeborg, who would pair well with Sexton, is an interesting idea.
