Domantas Sabonis moving to Phoenix would be good for the Kings and the Suns

They need more than Devin Booker

The Sacramento Kings are on a mission to make some trades this offseason, and one of the players they want to move is Domantas Sabonis. Oddly enough, the Phoenix Suns are a team who could put him to good use. With the end of the brief Kevin Durant era, they really need the firepower.

Phoenix is in a strange place right now. They sacrificed any semblance of bench depth to build a big three that consisted of Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. The experiment was a resounding failure. Both Durant and Beal are gone, leaving Booker as the team's main star.

That's not a bad thing, as Booker is one heck of a player. Jalen Green is also a solid player, as is Dillon Brooks. In the case of Brooks, he's also a great culture builder. Every locker room he plays for operates with a unique level of confidence and swagger, allowing them to punch above their weight.

The problem remains that the current iteration of the Suns doesn't have the depth to get past the first round of the playoffs. Even making it that far is a minor miracle for this group. What they need is the scoring, rebounding, and passing Sabonis brings to the table.

Sabonis is the upgrade the Suns need

Phoenix makes a great home Sabonis for a number of reasons. First, take a look at his biggest weakness, which is his middling to non-existent defense. The Suns are one of the top defensive teams in the league, meaning they can easily accomodate for his issues in that specific area.

At the same time, the Suns are generally considered to be one of the worst rebounding teams around. Sabonis, who is a top teir rebounding, could help them with that. When running at peak efficiency, he is capable of dominating the glass at both ends of the court.

Another issue for the Suns is assists. They're actually a great passing team, but they don't tend to generate a lot of assists because they generally score in isolation. Sabonis would change that. He functions best with offense running through him as a scorer and facilitator.

If Phoenix and Sacramento can make the numbers work, this would be a great move on both sides. Plus, the Kings could really use a player like Brooks. As the rebuild progresses, Sacramento is going to need a culture guy, and he is the best in the business.
