Since joining the NBA in 2013, Dennis Schroder has been connected to ten NBA franchises. And that doesn't even count his two stints with the Los Angeles Lakers. Now, Schroder will be eligible to trade once again on December 15, and no one would be surprised if the Kings make a move.
When it comes to the upcoming trade season, the rumor is that the Sacramento Kings are open for business. They are embarking on a major rebuild with limited options at the moment. Once the contracts for Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan are up after next season, that will change.
That doesn't mean there aren't moves to be made right now. The Kings are reputedly prepared for trade talks on pretty much anyone. Well, except for Keegan Murray and Nique Clifford, who are seen by many to be the young core of the rebuild. They should also hang onto Maxime Raynaud.
After that, every other player on Sacramento's roster is likely fair game. Big names like DeRozan, LaVine, and Domantas Sabonis will be made available, but they'll also be hard to move for various reasons. That's where players like Dennis Schroder, who the Kings can move, come in.
Dennis Schroder could be heading for team number 11
The Kings are the Schroder's 10th team in the NBA, and no one would be shocked to see him head to his 11th before the trade deadline. He's a solid player who often finds himself in trade packages. Schroder can ball, but he's also not someone teams have wanted to build around.
When Sacramento brought him in, it was to replace De'Aaron Fox as a point guard, and it went terribly. Now that Schroder is coming off the bench, he's playing much better. He looks more comfortable, has found a rhythm, and is sinking shots. This is the Dennis Schroder fans are used to seeing.
It's unlikely that Schroder wants to move again so soon, or at all. At some point, he'd probably like to put down roots and actually build a life with one team in one city. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened so far, and it's really not likely to happen in Sacramento, either.
Teams are always looking for strong bench players, and Schroder is definitely that. It makes him a likely candidate to be included in a trade this season. The Kings need to make a lot of big moves, and Schroder is inevitably someone who will factor into one of those moves.
