The Sacramento Kings won't have much to do during the NBA All-Star break since no one was selected for anything. While fans hope the Kings find a new mentality over the next week, it's not going to happen. Things will only keep getting worse for Sacramento when the NBA restarts.
It's not hard to see how badly the Kings are doing. With a record of 12 wins and 44 losses, the Kings are the worst team in the Western Conference as well as the entire league. On top of that, they're tied with the Wizards for the longest losing streak of the season at 14 straight losses.
When they come out of the All-Star break, Sacramento has to take on Orlando, San Antonio, and Memphis. Winning any of those games seems unlikely. The only upside is that they get to take on the Rockets one more time, the only team the Kings have beaten twice this season.
Even that offers little hope, as Sacramento has lost immensely winnable games to teams they should have been able to beat. As such, fans should not be holding out hope for the Kings to go on a major winning streak after the All-Star break. It's just not going to happen, unfortunately.
Sacramento's outlook isn't great in the last third of the season
As it stands right now, the Kings have played 56 games and have only won 12 of them. That gives them a win percentage of 21.4%, which is rather dismal. With 82 games in an NBA season, that means there are 26 regular seasons left for the Kings to play in 2025-2026.
If you assume that win percentage remains roughly the same, the Kings will win approximately six more games this season. And that's if you round up from the 5.6 wins the math actually gives. That means the Kings will likely finish the season with 18 wins and 64 losses.
The 2008-2009 season is generally regarded as the worst in the history of the Sacramento Kings, with 17 wins and 65 losses. This season is sitting right there. Honestly, it wouldn't be a shock to see Sacramento end up doing worse than that now and turn 2025-2026 into the worst on record.
If any Sactown fans are still thikning the Kings can go on a run that would help them slide into the Play-In, let it go. This team needs major, long-term work to even be that competitive, let alone make it into the playoffs. The upside is that they have the young core to actually pull that off.
